The install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe I first got would not install either so get it from here. The install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe is version 11 and the other you installed is version 10 so you need to start over. You can use a web address link, or press Browse to run an SWF file from your computer. Select your SWF Flash file in the Open box. Not sure is Flash Uninstaller is needed for the newer version 11.īut this link you can bookmark because the link will always be good and gets updated with newer versions. This version of Adobe Flash Player is self-contained, so you don’t need to install it to use itjust run the file, then in the Adobe Flash Player window, press File > Open. The softwarepatch site has older versions. So get the stand alone installer and close the browsers and install each. Running FlashUtil10x_ActiveX.exe from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\ (which was installed by running install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe) uninstalls the version of Flash player which at least works in IEĪll or most trouble is doing the online install and IE is the worse. Running the current version of the installer - install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe - still appears to do nothing but delete the file from the downloads folder and then sit in memory (regardless of whether I have closed AVG etc.) Running this program, offline, and with all firewalls and other defences disabled it actually showed a pop-up and progress line to show it was installing - and hey presto I can now use Flash Player in IE, and Flash player 10 activeX shows up in the Control-panel -> programs screen.īut I still cannot get it to work in Firefox

exe file (not an Adobe product) was pounced upon as Malware by AVG as soon as I re-enabled it, and slammed into the virus vault. Running the uninstall and install programs from the Adobe site with AVG and windows firewall disabled, I've attached this just in case it means more to someone on the forum than it does to meĬlearing out all dead registry entries (I used CCleaner rather than the one suggested, but I assume much of a muchness) and The only files I have in that folder are two log files, Install.log from about a year ago, and FlashInstall.Log from about an hour ago. The number and the letter, such as 10d in this example, depend on the installed Flash Player version. It is a file with a name like FlashUtil10d.exe. This utility is for Flash Player for Internet Explorer. If the installed Flash Player is between version 9.0.28.0 to 10.0.45.0, use a special installation utility that uninstalls Flash Player and then installs the latest Flash Player. The page you recommend cites the following for Vista:. I'm fairly sure I'd already tried steps 1 & 3 before, but tried again just in case, without success. I was once again able to play flash videos by doing this. Add the site to trusted sites as well as any additional warnings you get about this site and things being blocked and needing to be added to Trusted sites. Its not that its not installed, its that its not recommended nor safe to have it enabled (how many security exploits get released every week from Flash? a ton).
